![]() Naturally, all of the core MPC functions are present, though Akai has made understandable concessions. The MPC One is actually smaller and lighter than the Live, but packs in more dedicated function buttons akin to the X. Finally, the MPC One enters at $799 overall, it’s a reasonable way to enter the world of standalone production units. ![]() It’s followed by the portable MPC Live which sets you back a cool $1299. Instead, each workstation serves a different set of needs which is reflected in the price-in that way, cost is not indicative of quality.įor the series, the MPC X serves as a studio centerpiece and weighs in at a hefty $2299. Even though the MPC One sits at the lowest price point, the whole MPC series doesn’t necessarily conform to the ‘good, better, best’ model. It’s a cheaper alternative to both, but by no means sacrifices functionality for affordability. The Akai MPC One is sort of a hybrid between Akai’s very popular MPC Live and X units. In this MPC One review, we’ll break down Akai’s affordable sequencer and sampling workstation. Renowned for their influence on hip hop and electronic music, today’s workstations share DNA with their predecessors, with upgrades suited for modern digital recording. Roger Linn, who developed the popular LM-1 drum machine in 1980, designed the earliest MPCs. Originally named MIDI Production Center (now Music Production Center), Akai introduced the first model, the MPC60, in 1988. ![]() ![]() Akai Professional’s long-running MPC series is one of the most recognized sampling workstations ever made. ![]() ![]() IBackup Viewer from iMactools is the ultimate free iPhone backup extractor to extract data from iTunes backups. ![]() Sometimes fails to fully scan an iTunes backup file.Cannot extract files from iCloud backup.Give easy access to the content of iTunes backup. You can also export files as other formats for easy access. The script also works for the latest Macs with the M1 chip (using the Rosetta compatibility layer) and Linux on Chromebooks (here's how to enable Linux on Chrome OS). You just need to paste the following command into a macOS or Linux terminal and hit enter: Nexus Tools automatically downloads the latest platform tools from the Google website mentioned above, extracts them, and adds them to your system's path for ease of use. It's an open-source tool created by Android Police alumnus Corbin Davenport. If you ask me, Nexus Tools is the fastest way to get ADB up and running on your computer. There is a script that simplify the process. You'll have to extract them and add them to your system's path, but you probably don't want to bother with that. They're available on the Android Developers website. The tools are comprised of the same parts you get when you install the Android Studio: ADB, fastboot, and systrace. Since Android Studio is quite huge when installed, the standalone SDK platform tools could be a better option if you want to save some precious space on your computer's storage, especially if you don't want to get into app development. ![]() ![]() ![]() I also take pride in the fact that most of the software I use is free. All of my data is on other drives and backed up separately, mainly using file synchronization software. Note that I only use Macrium for the system disk/software. Unfortunately, I would need quite a few licenses and that gets pretty expensive. Why not spring for the paid version of Macrium reflect? It's a one-time cost and not expensive, particularly when you consider the money you've probably put into producing everything on the drive that you're backing up. I found Reflect so good I bought licences for it which are often available at times for a substantial discount. You can still find the free version here which will be updated for a while longer I prefer to do backups on inactive drives anyway, so I routinely boot from those USB drives for all my imaging. ![]() Booting from those to do imaging won't go away even if the original MRF install fails. Use your MRF install to create MRF USB rescue drives. It's a solid piece of work and open source (which I consider a plus) but the user interface is profoundly fugly!Īny other/better suggestions for rock solid and free software that can make images of bootable drives? Right now, one of the few products I have used and trust for making a disk image is CloneZilla. I use other approaches for backing up my data drives. Mainly MS Windows but some of my machines have a bootable Linux drive too. I use Macrium to image systems disks only. ![]() I understand that existing copies of the software may continue to function but there's a risk they won't and I don't want to discover that the hard way. That's a real shame.Īs one who takes his backups seriously, I need to start thinking about replacements.
